Fall Leaves Stab Binding (2022)

I’ve made several stab bindings — the exposed sewing, the lightness of the ideal paper, the different pattern options are all so beautiful , and the history is so interesting — but this hardcover one is one of my first and also one of my favorite. Stab binding has history in Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Dutch cultures, if not more, and but this was made from instructions in a book on Japanese Stab Binding. (Thanks to Cathy Reeve for the support and the photocopied resources!) This is the decorative paper I used here, one of my very favorites.
